A Light Along the Path

NanaBanana

Sweet NanaBanana,

Only eight weeks old, barely two pounds. You should have had a whole lifetime ahead of you—to play, to grow, to fall asleep in loving arms, and to discover a world where you were safe.

You were with us for such a short time, yet your light shone so bright. Your spirit, your love, your playfulness, and the place you made in our hearts were so much bigger than your tiny body. You touched so many lives, sweet girl. We ache for everything you never got to experience.

We light this lantern because you were here. You mattered. You were loved. And you will never, ever be forgotten.

As we work to open Artemis House, we will carry you with us. In every space we prepare, every caregiver we support, and every frightened little life we welcome, your memory will help guide us forward. You remind us why a safe home, gentle care, and the chance to heal matter so very much. How we wish we could have given you that chance.

From your forever-safe place beyond this earthly life, may your beautiful spirit stay close as we build the refuge we wish had been ready for you.

Rest softly, sweet NanaBanana. So tiny. So perfect. So deeply loved.

Your lantern will shine along our path. Always.

They were here. They were loved. Their life mattered. Their light still helps us find the way home.
